Vincent Lecavalier is expected to miss at least seven days due to a lower-body injury. However, there is the potential that he will be forced to miss more time than that.
Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier will be placed on injured reserve, according to general manager Steve Yzerman on Thursday morning.
Lecavalier is believed to have sustained a knee injury against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night. At the time, the organization stated that Lecavalier was fine. Of course, that has proven not to be the case.
While Lecavalier will miss at least seven days by being placed on injured reserve, the Lightning captain might be forced to miss more time than that. Yzerman stated that he believes Lecavalier will be out longer than seven days but will not require surgery.
Yzerman also said the team will recall a player from the Lightning's American Hockey league affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch, prior to Thursday night's game against the New York Islanders.
Lecavalier has registered seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points in 26 games played this season.
Update: Tyler Johnson was the player recalled from Syracuse.
