The top two teams in Conference USA will meet in the tournament championship game, as the No. 1 Memphis Tigers and the No. 2 Southern Miss Golden Eagles both won their respective semifinal matchups.
Southern Miss easily dispatched the No. 3 UTEP Miners in the first semifinal game, winning, 85-67. The Golden Eagles did not trail the entire game, and had already built a 17-point lead at halftime. Junior forward Dwayne Davis led all scorers with 27 points, while Jonathan Mills picked up a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.
Memphis used a big second half to pull away from the No. 5 Tulsa Golden Hurricane, winning, 85-74. Tulsa kept the game competitive for the first 20 minutes, and only trailed by one after the first half. The Tigers slowly pulled away form the Golden Hurricane, and kept Tulsa at arm's length for the final 12 minutes of the game. Chris Crawford had a huge game for Memphis, scoring 30 points off the bench.
Memphis and Southern Miss tip off at 10:30 a.m. CT Saturday, and CBS is televising the game.
