Danny Granger injury update: Granger eases his way back into action for Pacers

John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Pacers forward is starting to find his shooting touch while playing limited minutes.

Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger sat out the second half of the Pacers win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday night, but not due to a set back in his return from a left knee injury.

The Pacers were just giving Granger a break after he played close to his prescribed 20-minute limit the night before against the Los Angeles Clippers. Following the game on Thursday, Granger said the initial plan was to sit out the second game of the back-to-back but that he would give it a go if the knee felt good. There were no concerns with Granger's knee on Friday, just a cautious training staff, according to Mike Wells.

I was told right away that Granger didn't do anything to his knee. It was because the Pacers were playing the second game of a back-to-back and they didn't want to overdo Granger.

Granger didn't have a problem with that, either, because he acknowledged that he was a little tired.

Granger played his normal nine minute rotation in the first half on Friday and continued to show signs of finding his offensive rhythm on the court as he made three of five shots to score eight points and grab three rebounds. Now four games into his comeback, Granger has made nine of his last 18 shots after making just one of his first 14 attempts.

Indiana is desperate for an offensive boost off the bench which is the role Granger will continue to play as he builds up confidence in his knee and his game to make a bigger impact on the court.
