USA vs. Italy: TV schedule and preview for World Baseball Classic

Christian Petersen

Italy looks to continue its surprising run while the United States tries to bounce back. While Italy is all but guaranteed a spot in the next round in Miami, Team USA could soon be facing elimination.

After a deflating loss to Mexico last night, the United States looks to bounce back against a hot Italian team. Team Italy has been surprisingly dominant in this year's tourney. They are 2-0 in the tournament after their mercy rule win over Canada yesterday. The U.S. is only playing its second game of the tournament, but they are on the brink of elimination.

They have two more games before they could potentially play in a double elimination round game back in Japan, but they don't want to go into their contest with Canada on Sunday 0-2. Italy is a good team who beat Canada and Mexico already. The U.S. will have to win out to make it to Miami.

Last night, the United States' offense looked flat. They will try to bounce back, but they will need the pitching to keep them from playing out of a hole from the jump. R.A. Dickey gave up a quick four runs last night. Ryan Vogelsong will be taking the mound tonight for the U.S. team. The U.S. again gets the evening coverage.

Here's everything you need to know about the game:

Who: USA vs. Italy

Where: Chase Field, Phoenix, AZ

When: 9 PM ET, 7 PM local

How to Watch: MLB Network (English), ESPN Deportes (Spanish)

Starting Pitchers: Ryan Vogelsong vs. Luca Panerati

While the United States is in must-win territory, they are treating this game like any other postseason matchup. Every game to them is a must-win. Despite the loss, Dickey and Team USA are not down. For their sake, hopefully that can carry into tonight's game.
