Both men came out faster than expected in round six of Bernard Hopkins vs. Tavoris Cloud on HBO Championship Boxing.
After Hopkins had a little success early, he landed a left hook and then Cloud complained that he was also elbowed. Cloud started bleeding over the left eye shortly after, a cut that bled very badly. Hopkins started to land a jab but cloud turned up the heat and landed some decent shots of his own.
HBO claims that the cut was caused by a hard right hand.
Hopkins went back to circling and the referee noticed the cut and summoned the referee to take a look at a cut in a very bad spot. During the check, the referee claimed that the cut was from an accidental headbutt.
Once the doctor cleared them to continue, Cloud came out and started to pressure and throw some hard combinations, but Hopkins landed a good right hand of his own. The two men traded some big shots the rest of the round.
Round: 10-9 Hopkins
