With two rounds left in Bernard Hopkins' bout with Tavoris Cloud, it appeared that Hopkins was on his way to winning a world title at 48 years of age. Cloud had been slipping in terms of pacing and that was letting Hopkins decide when the two men would engage.
Cloud tried to come out a bit more aggressive and did land a little bit, including working to the body. But body work needed to come earlier in the fight to slow Hopkins down. Cloud was able to land a good left hand and force Hopkins to clinch to slow down the action.
Hopkins was forced out of his ability to control the pace more and it allowed Cloud to have a little more success, but as things slowed down, Cloud started winging wild shots that Hopkins was able to slip with ease, leaving that memory in the judges' minds.
Round: 10-9 Cloud
Fight: 105-104 Hopkins
