Confirming that Dustin Brown will indeed have a hearing today for his elbow on Jason Pominville. Kings play in Detroit tonight.— John Shannon (@JSportsnet) April 24, 2013
The hit occurred along the boards midway through the second period, with the Wild leading 2-0 over Los Angeles. As Brown was playing the puck, he braced for a hit from Pominville and had his elbow hit the Wild forward high in the face on the play. You can see the hit below:
There was no penalty on the play.
Brown has never been suspended, despite a history of questionable hits throughout his career. One such play came just the game before, when he hit Antoine Roussel of the Dallas Stars up high with what appeared to be a direct shot to the head. No penalty was called on the play.
