Before he worked for the Grizzlies, John Hollinger picked the Spurs to win Monday night

A win-win!

In the middle of the NBA season, John Hollinger was hired as Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Memphis Grizzlies. Before that, he was, of course, a writer and statistical analyst for ESPN. That means he participated in ESPN's preseason predictions back in October.

As it turns out, Hollinger was the only expert in a panel of 35 to pick the Spurs to win the West. Hollinger surely would have preferred his Grizzlies not get swept by San Antonio like they did Monday night, but in a way, these Western Conference Finals were a win-win for him.

Hollinger himself recognizes the irony, too:

(Tip of the hat to Aaron McGuire for the keen eye/sharp memory)
