Kentucky Oaks 2013: Post time and TV schedule

Andy Lyons

Oaks Day preceeds the Kentucky Derby and the 2013 Kentucky Oaks is shaping up to be an entertaining race.

The Kentucky Derby may draw more headlines, but with an impressive field the 2013 Kentucky Oaks could be the race of the weekend. Television coverage on NBC Sports Network is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. ET. The Kentucky Oaks, the sixth and final stakes race Friday, will headline the race schedule with post time scheduled for 5:45 p.m. ET.

The 2013 Oaks field includes 10 three-year-old fillies, with pre-race favorite Dreaming of Julia leading the way. Dreaming of Julia was a 3/1 morning line favorite with Beholder and Unlimited Budget tied for the next best odds at 7/2. Midnight Lucky, a pre-race favorite of some, opened with 9/2 odds.

SB Nation's Matt Gardner is going against the favorite Dreaming of Julia and is instead picking Unlimited Budget to win the $1 million Grade 1 race. In addition to Unlimited Budget, Gardner's exacta pick includes Close Hatches and Dreaming of Julia. Flashy Gray was an interesting sleeper pick, but was scratched due to a bruised right heel.

Here is a complete look at the field and the morning line odds.
