World Golf Rankings 2013: Tiger Woods retains top spot

USA TODAY Sports

Tiger sat out last week's PGA Tour event, but no matter -- he's still the world's top-ranked golfer.

Tiger Woods did not participate in the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte over the weekend, but he remains No. 1 in the World Golf Rankings. There was little movement within the top 10 in the standings following the tournament -- the top nine did not change -- though Phil Mickelson did move up to 10th after his third-place finish. Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, Justin Rose and Luke Donald round out the top five behind Woods.

Mickelson was in position to win the Wells Fargo Championship, but a pair of bogies late in his final round cost him a shot at victory. PGA Tour rookie Derek Ernst would go on to win the tournament in a playoff and made a huge jump in the rankings as a result -- he moved up nearly 1,000 spots to No. 123.

Here is the current top 10 (pdf):

1. Tiger Woods
2. Rory McIlroy
3. Adam Scott
4. Justin Rose
5. Luke Donald
6. Brandt Snedeker
7. Louis Oosthuizen
8. Graeme McDowell
9. Steve Stricker
10. Phil Mickelson
