GIF Tournament IV: The Final Four

After nearly 30,000 votes, you and I have decided upon the four greatest animated sports GIFs of the year so far. Today we take to the polls once again, and decide which two GIFs advance to the championship.

Friends, we have counted precisely 29,956 votes, and the 32 animated sports GIFs of GIF TOURNAMENT IV have been whittled down to four. In case you missed this weekend's action:

HOCKEY SORCERY 1,006, IAN KINSLER 961. SORCERY held a slim lead throughout the weekend, and a last-minute rush to the polls Sunday night didn't help KINSLER up-end the tournament's top overall seed. I was surprised, frankly, that KINSLER -- a quality GIF in his own right -- put up as much of a fight as he did.

SNIPED METS FAN 1,008, BEER HERO 631. The "fans in the stands" GIF subgenre is certainly in vogue these days. In fact, six of the 32 GIFs in this tournament unfolded in the stands. While BEER HERO will continue to hold a special place in our hearts, the 14-seed SNIPED METS FAN has crushed every opponent in the tournament thus far.

MIGUEL HERRERA 784, CATCH OF MYSTERY 672. The sport of baseball came very close to claiming every spot in the Final Four, but HERRERA continues to carry the standard not only for soccer GIFs, but for GIFs of simplicity.

DOINK! 863, BLUE JAYS FAN 641. One of the most thoroughly enjoyable GIFs in recent memory continued its march through the tournament. It's dangerous.

We have an interesting foursome here. One GIF of pure elation, one of illusion and mystery, and two of abject failure. Time to vote, friends.
