Belmont Stakes 2013 post positions: Orb draws Gate 5

Al Bello

After an unlucky draw in the Preakness, Kentucky Derby winner Orb will start from Gate 5 in this weekend's Belmont Stakes.

The post positions for the 2013 Belmont Stakes were announced Wednesday afternoon by the New York Racing Association. This year's Kentucky Derby winner, Orb, lands in Gate 5 after getting positioned on the inside track during The Preakness Stakes.

For Orb -- at 3/1 odds -- it's a stronger starting position than the one he worked with in the second leg of the Triple Crown. The winner of this year's Preakness, Oxbow, gets Gate 7. Among other possible favorites, Freedom Child and Revolutionary -- 8/1 and 9/2 odds -- will start from Gates 2 and 9.

Here's the full Belmont Stakes draw:

1. Frac Daddy
2. Freedom Child
3. Overanalyze
4. Giant Finish
5. Orb
6. Incognito
7. Oxbow
8. Midnight Taboo
9. Revolutionary
10. Will Take Charge
11. Vyjack
12. Palace Malice
13. Unlimited Budget
14. Golden Soul

Orb and Oxbow should remain clear favorites in the 145th Belmont Stakes, which will be run Saturday. Coverage begins at 5 p.m. ET on NBC. Check out And Down The Stretch They Come for complete coverage and analysis of the race.
