Belmont Stakes 2013 race day weather forecast

4 to 5 inches of rain fell over the last 36 hours over Long Island, New York, but the weather dries out for today's Belmont Stakes.

The remnant moisture and rain that was associated with tropical storm Andrea will quickly move out to see as an area of high pressure moves in over New York and Long Island, later today and this afternoon. This will provide drier weather than what took place on Friday

Friday rain estimates across New York City and Long Island were between 4 to 5 inches. That is going to make for a very wet surface, and could remain wet into this evenings Belmont Stakes.

Possible morning rain shower, otherwise a mix of sunshine and clouds and warmer with afternoon temperatures in the upper 70s to near 80. Breezy conditions are possible with winds out of the west between 10 and 20 mph.
