Tyson Gay tests positive for banned substance, according to report

Tyson Gay has been informed by the USADA that he tested positive for a banned substance this past May.

Tyson Gay has pulled out of next next month's World Championships in Moscow after testing positive for banned substances, according to reports. Gay is a former world champion and the current United States record holder in the 100-meter event.

Gay admitted that he was notified of the failed drug test by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency on Friday. He did not reveal what the substance was, only that the sample came from a May 16 out-of-competition test. Gay said that he would have his "B" sample tested soon.

Gay was reportedly "teary-eyed" when speaking with reporters:

"I don't have a sabotage story," Gay said. "I basically put my trust in someone and was let down."

Gay took the silver medal in the 4x100-meter men's relay at the 2012 London Summer Olympics. He had been running well this year after struggling with groin and hamstring injuries at major events in recent years. Gay won the 100-meter and 200-meter events at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Iowa last month.
