The chase for gold in men's ice hockey begins Feb. 12.

As part of the announcement that the NHL and NHLPA had come to an agreement with the IIHF to participate in the Sochi games, the schedule for the 11-day tournament was announced by the league and the IIHF today. The NHL will take a break from the 2013-14 regular season starting Feb. 9. The break will last through Feb. 26, while the tournament will take place from Feb. 12-23.

Defending gold medal winner Canada is in Group B with Austria, Finland and Norway. They'll begin play on Feb. 13 against Norway at noon ET. Team USA begins its quest to top a silver medal in Vancouver on Feb. 13 as well, taking on Slovakia at 7:30 p.m. ET. It will also play against Slovenia and Russia in Group A.

2014's tournament expands from eight to 12 teams. The top four teams in round-robin play will receive a bye to the quarterfinals, while the remaining eight will play in a qualification playoff. From there, it'll be an eight-team elimination playoff to determine a champion.
