Kit season is always fun as clubs try to keep their new designs a secret until the official launch dates. Yet this week, Wellington Phoenix seem to have debuted both of their new home and change kits. The former was more of a mistake than the latter as the A-League's official Twitter account posted this image from a photo shoot:
The tweet has since been deleted but, thanks to the magic of screen shots, we can remember what the design looked like before the official release. Of note is the lack of Sony's sponsorship on the front of the shirt. Though there is nothing official yet, the Phoenix could be without a shirt sponsor in 2013/14.
Wellington's change kit debuted last night in the Phoenix's 1-0 defeat of Newcastle Jets in a pre-season game in Weston. With official league and club badges, as well as the omnipresent Hyundai sleeve advert, makes these kits very likely to be official rather than training kits. As a comparison, Perth Glory have stated via Twitter that their kits worn in Malaysia for the Johor Darul Takzim friendly were not official. Clearly there is no A-League badge on the kit.
Meanwhile, Wellington are not the only club with an apparent kit leak. Sydney FC's 2013/14 home strip was posted on the very reliable Todo Sobre Camisetas site on July 9. That is to say nothing of this version, seen on a child in Italy just last week (ok, that's obviously a fake).
UPDATE - It seems the Phoenix also wore this white and yellow kit last week against Western Sydney Wanderers.
