1. FC Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid

Details: Wednesday, August 28 @ 4:55 PM ET - Camp Nou - Barcelona, Spain

Watch Here: ESPN3 on XFINITY

Why Watch: After their stunning draw (1-1) in the Spanish Super Cup opening round, Atletico Madrid is back for a win against FC Barcelona. Barca’s Neymar will get his first competitive start in Wednesday's match against Atletico and Barca needs the two-time South American Football of the Year to be at his best to win this match. Meanwhile, Atletico has hit the ground running with several impressive recent wins. This is a can’t miss match, as Atletico has a great chance of beating Barcelona on Wednesday!

2. Baltimore Orioles vs. Boston Red Sox

Details: Wednesday, August 28 @ 7:00 PM ET - Fenway Park - Boston, MA

Watch Here: ESPN on XFINITY

Why Watch: Both the Red Sox and Orioles have their sights set on the postseason as they take the field at Fenway Wednesday night. Boston has a five game lead over the O's, but Baltimore has the better head-to-head record over the Sox (6-4 this season). John Lackey starts for the Sox Wednesday, owning a 1-1 record against the O's this year. However, Lackey has surrendered two runs to the O’s in the first inning of each start against them this year, both in Baltimore. Will Lackey settle in at Fenway or will the O's lineup hit him early and often Wednesday night? Don't miss the top of the AL East Wednesday night on ESPN.

3. North Carolina vs. South Carolina [NCAA Football]

Details: Thursday, August 29 @ 6:00 PM ET - Williams-Brice Stadium - Columbia, SC

Watch Here: ESPN on XFINITY

Why Watch: Carolina is on my mind as 2013's college football season kicks off in Columbia. There is never a dull moment when rivals take the field and the Carolina's battle of the border will be a classic display of the defensive star vs. experienced quarterback. The focus on the field will be on SC's junior defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and NC's Senior QB Bryn Renner. Can Renner win his first career game against an SEC opponent, or will Clowney have the QB eating dirt Thursday night?

#5ToFollow Insider: Jones Angell - @JonesAngell

The play-by-play announcer for the North Carolina Tar Heels has a great seat for the game, and will be clocking double duty calling the game and live tweeting from Columbia. Make sure you tune in to his tweets during college football’s kickoff game.

4. Mississippi vs. Vanderbilt [NCAA Football]

Details: Thursday, August 29 @ 9:15 PM ET - Vanderbilt Stadium - Nashville, TN

Watch Here: ESPN on XFINITY

Why Watch: Two teams of the biggest up-and-coming teams in the SEC are ready to make a statement on college football's opening night. Keep an eye on the Rebels' gunslinger QB, Bo Wallace (22 TDs/17 INTs last season). He's got a knack for the big play, but also is prone to being picked off. Vandy will start senior transfer QB, Austyn Carta-Samuels, an untested SEC competitor. Will the Rebs start the season with a road win, or can Vandy protect their house Thursday night?

5. Rutgers vs. Fresno State [NCAA Football]

Details: Thursday, August 29 @ 10:30 PM ET - Bulldog Stadium - Fresno, CA

Watch Here: ESPNU on XFINITY

Why Watch: The Scarlet Knights travel west for their American Athletic Conference debut against the Mountain West's Fresno State Bulldogs. The Fresno offense is in high gear, and can put up some serious points (averaging over 48 ppg last season), while Rutgers was one of the top five teams in the nation in points allowed (14 ppg). Can Fresno’s senior QB, Derek Carr, carve up the Rutgers’ D, or will we see the Knights’ defensive dominance Thursday night?
