The 49ers may have a hole in their defense, after San Francisco rookie safety Eric Reid suffered an apparent head injury on Sunday night against the Seahawks. The first-year safety was injured after he collided head-first with Seattle wide receiver Sidney Rice toward the end of the second quarter. He laid on the field for several minutes following the hit while the 49ers' medical staff went through concussion protocols with the rookie.
He was assisted off the field and looked visibly shaken as he headed to the sideline. He was taken to the locker room after the medical staff continued their evaluation on the sidelines. NBC's Michelle Tafoya reports that Reid is being tested further for concussion-like symptoms and is likely done for the night.
Here is a look at the collision between Reid and Rice:
The Seahawks currently lead the 49ers by the score of 5-0 at halftime of Sunday night's game.
