Despite being questionable on the Jaguars' injury report, quarterback Blaine Gabbert is good to go for Jacksonville's home-opener on Sunday. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Gabbert is expected to start against the Chiefs in Week 1, even with a thumb injury on this throwing hand. The former first-round pick fractured his thumb on his right hand during a preseason game against the New York Jets on Aug. 17.
Gabbert was limited in practice as recently as Friday, but has healed well enough to suit up for the Jaguars. He is coming off a preseason in which he played two games and completed 18 of 26 passes for 184 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Due to his preseason performance, he was named the Week 1 starter on Aug. 19, despite being injured two days prior to the announcement.
The Jaguars host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
