There may be some movement at running back for the Giants following Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. New York plans to workout former Giant Brandon Jacobs and veteran Willis McGahee on Tuesday, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS. Jacobs played for the 49ers and McGahee played for the Broncos last season.
Giants running back David Wilson was benched after fumbling twice and running for just 19 yards on seven carries on Sunday night. His replacement, Da'Rel Scott, had just 23 yards on five carries against the Cowboys. Along with the poor performance by the aforementioned duo on Sunday, the Giants lost running back Andre Brown to a broken leg during the preseason.
New York's running back unit is frighteningly thin and hosting a workout is an acknowledgment of their lack of depth.
McGahee has played for the Ravens, Broncos and Bills during his 10-year career in the NFL, being named to a pair of Pro Bowls as well. Jacobs played for the Giants from 2005-2011 before signing with the 49ers last season. He was part of the Giants' two most recent Super Bowl victories.
UPDATE: La Confora also reports that former Jets running back Joe McKnight will be among those working out for the Giants on Tuesday.
