Romania made it three wins out of three in their qualifying group with an impressive away win over Turkey.

A Gheorge Grozav strike proved enough for Romania to maintain their perfect record in their World Cup qualifying group as they emerged victorious from a difficult away game in Turkey.

After early Turkish dominance, Romania enjoyed a spell of continued attacks on the hosts' goal with Ciprian Marica going close before the away side eventually found a way through. Mihai Pintilli provided the decisive pass to unlock the Turkish defence, bypassing their entire defence to send Grozav through, who smartly took advantage of Volkan Demirel charging off his line to deliver a deft finish from 30 yards.

Turkey were unable to find an equaliser despite enjoying a flurry of late chances. Mevlut Erdinc missed a sitter as he put his shot just wide of the post, with Arda Turan first seeing an effort saved before delivering a fine cross to Nuri Sahin, only to see the Liverpool and Real Madrid playmaker nod over the bar.

Romania's perfect record - with the three wins also including three clean sheets - now means that their game against the Netherlands on Tuesday should be a hugely entertaining clash, with both teams competing for top spot.
