Just a little more than three months into Nathan MacKinnon's NHL career, it's looking as if the Colorado Avalanche made a pretty smart decision when they selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.
He has been on fire over the past couple of weeks, and he kept going on Friday when he scored his 15th goal of the season (and eighth goal in his past nine games) to give the Avalanche a 1-0 lead.
He did it by making Islanders defenseman Matt Donovan look like he was a statue.
Yeah, it's safe to say that Nathan MacKinnon has NHL speed. Don't worry Matt Donovan, you're not the last NHL defenseman that is going to have to experience it first hand.
Remember, MacKinnon doesn't turn 19 until next September. He has a chance to absolutely terrifying in his career.
