Is a Rhodes Brothers feud imminent? Cody Rhodes and Goldust dropped the tag titles they won back in October on the Royal Rumble pre-show, falling to the New Age Outlaws, Billy Gunn and Road Dogg.
The Outlaws showed up at the Slammy Awards and got a solid pop from the crowd, as well as a "one more match" chant. That probably helped lead to their revival, initially as partners with CM Punk in some six-man tag matches. They've since walked out on Punk, leaving him to get beat up by The Shield and turning heel in the process. They've won a couple more times since, leading to them getting this title shot against The Rhodes Brothers.
Cody and Goldust got a couple of big spots in early, with Goldy pulling out a surprising flip off the apron and Cody connecting with a flying clothesline to Road Dogg from the top rope to the floor. Also, Cody got to tell Billy Gunn to suck it. The match looked over when Cody hit Road Dogg with CrossRhodes, but Billy Gunn broke up the pin. After Cody failed to spot a tag, he connected with a disaster kick on Road Dogg, but Gunn, the legal man, hit him with a Fameasser as he was getting up, then pinned him to give the New Age Outlaws their sixth Tag Team Championship.
