The Maloofs are investing in a hangover prevention drink

Ethan Miller

What else did you expect?

When we last left the Maloof brothers, they were being unceremoniously pushed aside as their NBA team was sold to Vivek Ranadive. What have they been up to since? Investing in a hangover prevention drink, obviously.

From Yahoo!:

Maloof Ventures announced today the launch of NEVER HUNGOVER, a revolutionary new product in hangover prevention, at GNC (GNC), the nation's largest specialty retailer of health, wellness and sports nutrition products. Launched in select GNC stores in December and expanding nationwide in early 2014, the new beverage is composed of a proprietary formula that helps neutralize and process the toxins caused by alcohol in the liver and kidneys.

Among the glorious details in this press release:

  • The genesis of the idea came when the Never Hungover CEO was inspired by his doctor using a special substance to help his daughter recover from Lupus and realized it could also be used to prevent hangovers.
  • Phil Maloof tried the concoction at a trade convention and "immediately" decided to invest in it.
  • ZING vodka, one of the other odd investments in the Maloof brothers' portfolio, is referred to as an "innovative and vibrant spirit brand."
But in order to ensure we aren't behind the curve, we thought about what other products the Maloof brothers would find interesting. Our list:

-A shower that sprays BOD instead of water.

-Team-branded beer funnels.

-Breathable fabric that makes your shirts even more form-fitting.

-A Roomba, but for shaving back hair. It shaves while you sleep!

-A line of stupid hats.

-A drinking hard hat, but with shot-sized holders.

-A line of Rayon activewear that tightens automatically when in a nightclub environment.

-Tequila lozenges.

Bill Hanstock, Paul Flannery and David Roth contributed to this list.
