Zdeno Chara laughs when Brendan Smith tries to fight him

Brendan Smith was lucky to escape with his life.

SB Nation 2014 NHL Playoff Bracket

Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara is a large, mean and scary man. Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brendan Smith is an average-sized and generally likeable young man. You can probably guess who would win in a fight.

So it's no wonder Chara found it absolutely hilarious when Smith tried to drop the gloves with him at the end of the first period of Game 2.

Poor Smith. Chara just kept him at arm's length! Chara fighting smaller men is one of the best things about hockey.

While he was laughing, Twitter was fearing for Brendan Smith's well-being.
