Preakness 2014 weekend weather forecast: Black-Eye soaking

Heavy rain will soak the track at Pimlico Race Course Friday but the weather will cooperate for the Preakness on Saturday.

A cold front along with copious amounts of moisture will stream in over the Mid-Atlantic states Friday. Heavy rain showers are expected, along with an isolated thunderstorm or two. Rain amounts across the region, including Baltimore, where Pimlico Race Course is located, could see two to four inches of rain. Although the rain exits by Saturday for the Preakness Stakes, the race course could remain muddy.

FRIDAY -- BLACK-EYE SUSAN WEATHER FORECAST:
Cloudy skies, with heavy rain showers, especially in the morning, are likely over Baltimore, MD today. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 60s with a high near 70 later in the afternoon. Gusty southwest winds in the morning with gusts reaching 25 mph. Winds then shift direction in the afternoon out of the northwest and will be between 5 to 15 mph.

SATURDAY -- PREAKNESS STAKES WEATHER FORECAST:
Drier and nice weather is expected Saturday for the 2014 Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course. Mostly sunny with afternoon temperatures reaching the low 70s.  Winds will be between 5 and 10 mph out of the west-southwest.
