Update: California Chrome wins Preakness Stakes
Race day is already upon us at Pimlico Race Course, with the running of the 2014 Preakness Stakes as the main event. California Chrome has been the favorite leading up to the race and retains that distinction in our latest look at the odds.
California Chrome was the winner at the Kentucky Derby, but the Preakness presents its own set of challenges as the shortest of the Triple Crown races. There was a bit of drama with California Chrome earlier in the week due to a blister that was found in the horse's throat on Thursday, but that's been treated and the colt is ready to go.
Social Inclusion has consistently been pegged as California Chrome's top competition. While California Chrome remains the favorite, Social Inclusion is the runner-up in the books, now at 10-1 in the latest set of odds. Social Inclusion has run just three races in his career, and missed out on the Kentucky Derby after finishing third in the Wood Memorial, but is a fast horse and is well-suited for the length of the Preakness.
Kid Cruz has seen the most action since the morning line. Kid Cruz began the day at 20-1, but is now the No. 4 betting favorite at 12-1.
