California Chrome is coming into the Belmont Stakes on June 7 with the weight of the horse racing world on his broad shoulders. The winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness is one win away from becoming a living piece of history, the first race since Affirmed in 1978 to win the triple crown.
With less than two weeks to go before the Belmont Stakes, California Chrome is currently at 10/13 to win, a heavy favorite, according to the race's official site. Behind him are Commanding Curve and Social Inclusion at 8/1 and Tonalist at 9/1. Some of the interesting longshots include Intense Holiday and Wicked Strong, both at 12/1.
California Chrome has looked good leading up to the Belmont, running around the track with considerable ease, according to the New York Daily News. The Belmont Stakes is the longest of the three triple crown races at a distance of 1.5 miles.
