NCAA economic expert Lauren Stiroh is on the witness stand at the O'Bannon trial today, and she's trying to make the point that athletes are not harmed by receiving no compensation for playing. Her reasoning? Athletes are better off by their coaches getting paid more and by having better facilities than they are by receiving their own money. Stiroh actually thinks that UConn star Shabazz Napier, who couldn't afford food at times, was better off by coach Kevin Ollie receiving money that could have otherwise been given to players. Maybe she'll be better off if her employer takes away her salary and spends it on waterfalls in her office instead.
