Vrana, 18, has spent the last three seasons as a member of the Linkopïng organization of the Swedish Hockey League (formerly known as Elitserien), splitting time between the U20 club and the major club. Playing 24 regular season games apiece, Vrana registered 25 points (14 goals and 11 assists) with the U20 club and three points (two goals and an assist) with the major club. The left-handed shooting forward has spent time at both left and right wing.
Listed at 6'0, 176 pounds, Vrana is described by the ISS as a player capable of scoring in bunches. Coming in as the No. 21 prospect in the 2014 class in the ISS yearend report, Vrana is praised for his decisions with the puck:
Vrana was an offensive juggernaut for Czech Republic and probably the only top gun to play to expectations and beyond from his team. Intimidating offensive skill- set and weapons, shot is lethal, gets pucks through traffic with ease and release is lightning quick to catch goalies looking. Battles well to get himself into position, not a perimeter player although remains a threat in all areas due to his shot. Patience, composure on the puck when pressured is excellent, sorts out his options and outwaits the opposition. Seems to always elevate his game to a higher level when competing for his country, wants to be the game-breaker. Showed flashes of his talent with Linkoping in the SHL this season.
He has represented the Czech Republic on multiple occasions, including the 2013-14 U20 World Junior Championship where he registered two points (a goal and an assist) in five games.
Vrana was selected with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2013 KHL Draft by Sibir Novosibirsk.
