The New Jersey Devils have selected forward prospect John Quenneville with the No. 30 overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Quenneville, 18, is a left-handed forward who has spent time at both center and left wing while playing with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League. Selected with the No. 54 overall pick in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft, Quenneville made his debut in 2012-13 and appeared in 47 regular season games, registering 19 points (eight goals and 11 assists) over that span. He followed up that performance with 58 points (23 goals and 33 assists) in 61 games during the 2013-14 season.

Quenneville is the second cousin of Chicago Blackhawks head coach, Joel Quenneville.

Listed at 6'0, 182 pounds, Quenneville finished the year ranked as the No. 41 overall prospect in this year's draft class, according to the ISS year-end report. Praised for his energy, Quenneville is described as a player who helps push the puck to the net:

Quenneville plays the game with passion, finishing his checks, attacking pucks and driving the net hard whenever possible. He has a very good shot and can be very difficult player to contain in the offensive zone. While he doesn't have the best first two steps, he picks up speed well from there and can be a freight train once he's going. His development through the year took off mid-season, especially once his older brother Peter (Blue Jackets pick) joined the team. Quenneville has another younger brother, David, who was a high pick in the WHL draft one year ago and is also the second cousin of Chicago coach Joel Quenneville and his uncle (by marriage) is Bruin's Johnny Boychuk.
