Recently signed Miami Dolphins running back Arian Foster will likely play in the team’s preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys on Friday. Dolphins head coach Adam Gase confirmed this to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.
Signed by Miami in July, Foster is coming off the worst season of his seven-year NFL career. With the Houston Texans in 2015, the 29-year-old running back played in only four games, rushing for 163 yards and one touchdown on 63 carries.
Fantasy Spin: Foster is currently listed on the Dolphins’ depth cart as the backup to running back Jay Ajayi, and does not have much fantasy value heading into the season. He is coming off a season hampered by injuries and risk, and a younger running back may be a better option for fantasy owners in 2016.
Foster’s ADP as of late has been seeing him selected in the fifth-round of a standard 12-team league. His PPR league ADP falls in the same area, but his value may be slightly higher in these leagues given his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield throughout his career.
His best bet before the season begins will likely be as an RB2, but it would not come as a huge surprise if Foster ended up undrafted in a fair share of leagues.
