The Utah State Aggies have accepted an invitation to the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, reports the Salt Lake Tribune. That's in line with the bowl projections from SB Nation, which projected the Aggies to face the Toledo Rockets in the game. It will be Utah State's second consecutive year in the Potato Bowl.
The Aggies capped a 7-6 season with a loss to the Ohio Bobcats in the 2011 Potato Bowl, 24-23. The 2012 Aggies have fared better and will likely enter with a 10-2 record, including an overtime win over in-state rivals the Utah Utes and another against then-No. 20 Louisiana Tech. Prior to 2011, the Aggies hadn't reached a bowl game since 1997.
The 2012 Aggies have ridden a strong defense to their 10-win season. They've given up an average of just 16 points per game, and held opponents to one score in four of their games. After an inconsistent start, the offense has seemingly found its legs, scoring an average of 44.8 points in each of its previous five games.
The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will be Saturday, Dec. 15.
