Mississippi State and Northwestern will meet in the Gator Bowl.
The Gator Bowl will get 9-3 Northwestern from the Big Ten and, according to Brandon Marcello, 8-4 Mississippi State from the SEC.
The TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl typically pairs a middle-of-the-road team from the SEC (a spectacular conference) with the third or fourth best team in the Big Ten (a bad conference). So in the 2012 college football environment, this bowl has all the makings of a blowout, SEC-style. The Gator Bowl is one of six bowls to take place on New Years Day and, running since 1946, is the sixth oldest college bowl in the country.

My thoughts on the title sponsor's services: TaxSlayer.com is the current sponsor of the Gator Bowl. If you're faced with a problem, say that be a bad neighbor, bad boss, financial issue or something of the sort, and your solution is to slay that thing, you're probably in jail. Or, if not incarcerated, alone. People don't tend to gravitate towards people who (by definition of slayer) kill in a violent way. But then again, taxes are pretty unpopular. So, I think the populace can get onboard a Tax Slayer.
Last year's score: Florida Gator 24, Ohio State Buckeyes 17
