Nürnberg and Augsburg did not play the greatest football match ever on Sunday.
Nürnberg and Augsburg conspired to play a scoreless draw to the dismay of supporters and neutrals alike. However, Augsburg will take the point, because it takes them out of the relegation zone at least until Stuttgart plays Hamburg today.
For all of the ball they saw throughout the first half, Nürnberg struggled to put Mohamed Amsif in the Augsburg under threat. In fact, the better chances probably fell to the feet of Augsburg as they kept their shape and defended well.
Nürnberg have Raphael Schäfer and some desperate defending to thank for not conceding a goal in the 60th minute. Schäfer did come out and flap at a corner from Augsburg barely making contact. The ball fell in the Nürnberg penalty area, and the goalkeeper charged after it not allowing a quick shot. The ball bounced around in the area with a few deflected shots and a save by Schäfer before finally being cleared.
Schäfer came up big again a few minutes later with an excellent save on Aristide Bance. A long ball was played over the top and centered perfectly for the Burkinabé internation. His header was on target and would've been a goal if not for an excellent save by Schäfer to deny him.
The remainder of the match would be played mostly in the midfield with neither side generating anything to threaten the other.
