Hoffenheim show no mercy against a lethargic Stuttgart.
Hoffenheim picked up their first ever victory over Stuttgart on Wednesday in a 3-0 win at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
Takashi Usami started things off brilliantly for the visitors. He danced through the Stuttgart penalty area like a certain brilliant Argentine before megging Sven Ulreich for a 1-0 lead after only five minutes. Ulreich redeemed himself at the twenty minute mark when he stonewalled Fabian Johnson after the defender broke through after a fantastic pass from Usami.
With Stuttgart's anemic offense not producing much of anything, Hoffenheim doubled their lead just after halftime. Roberto Firmino played a good ball to Joselu, and the former Real Madrid man beat Ulreich to make it 2-0.
Ulreich fended off shots from Joselu and Usami late as Hoffenheim kept attacking, but he wasn't able to keep Johnson off the scoresheet for the second straight match.
With the loss, Stuttgart remain in the drop zone after five matches with only two points. Hoffenheim have won their last two matches to jump up to 11th and host Augsburg at the weekend.
