It's been a big two weeks for Bayern Munich. Two victories over Juventus to advance in the Champions League and clinching the league last weekend with a victory against Eintracht Frankfurt made this weekend's Bavarian Derby against Nürnberg a little under the radar. Not to mention, Bayern has a big DFB Pokal semifinal on Tuesday.
Manager Jupp Heynckes made nine --- NINE --- changes to the lineup that won in Turin 2-0 for Nürnberg. So the question to obviously ask is this: Would the drastic changes have an effect on the match? We had our answer within five minutes.
Jerome Boateng scored a fantastic side volley / scissor kick that beat Raphael Schäfer to make it 1-0. Yes, the goal was scored by the same Jerome Boateng that plays centerback for Bayern. It's easily one of the finest goals that you're going to score this weekend in the entire world.
Nürnberg were definitely not prepared for what came next. Boateng went from goalscorer to playmaker --- No, seriously, he did. --- twelve minutes later. He fed a perfect through ball to Mario Gomez, and the forward made it 2-0. Der Club had yet to recover from the first goal, when Rafinha made it 3-0 in the 24th minute. The defender made a run up the right side and beat Schäfer at the near post.
Xherdan Shaqiri scored in the second half to make it 4-0, and Bayern cruised to victory. Nürnberg are still trying to figure out when the match starts.
