Bayern Munich vs. VfB Stuttgart, 2013 DFB Pokal Final: Stuttgart passes the fifteen minute test

The first fifteen minutes have come and gone and Stuttgart have passed the first test. That first test was not conceding a silly early goal.

Bayern did have the first opportunity of the match, when Arjen Robben broke free down the right side. Instead of cutting inside and attempting a shot, Robben squared the ball. Georg Niedermeier was there to clear the ball, but he nearly sent it flying into his own net.

The next chance actually fell Stuttgart's way. Alexandru Maxim managed the more difficult effort of missing the target, when it seemed like he would at least challenge Manuel Neuer. As mentioned int he preview, Stuttgart need to at least challenge Neuer every time the get the ball deep in Bayern's half like that.

A little later, Franck Ribery's low cross into Mario Gomez was cleared out against by Niedermeier.

However, for Stuttgart, fifteen minutes have passed, and it's 0-0.
