James Young chose Kentucky over Kansas, Michigan State and Syracuse.
James Young, a top 10 recruit in the class of 2013, has chosen to play for John Calipari at the University of Kentucky next season.
Young, a 6'6 forward from Rochester Hills, Mich., chose Kentucky over Kansas, Michigan State and Syracuse. Young revealed his decision by unveiling his "Kentucky bound" shirt while making the announcement.
Said Young about his commitment:
"Kentucky’s just always been my dream school," Young said. "I’ve always dreamed of going to that school, and once I went up to go visit I just fell in love with the place. It’s a great atmosphere, great coaching, great facility, great basketball history behind it. I just love the school."
Young will join a 2013 Kentucky recruiting class that already consists of twins Andrew and Aaron Harrison and power forward Derek Willis. Andrew Harrison, a 6'5 point guard, is listed as the No. 1 point guard prospect in his class, while his brother, Aaron Harrison, is listed as the No. 1 shooting guard in 2013, both by Scout.com.
Scout has Young ranked as the ninth-best prospect in the class of 2013.
