Shooting forward Ishmail Wainwright, a four-star recruit who plays for Montrose Christian of Rockville, Md., has committed to the Baylor Bears next season, according to Brendan Padilla of 247 Sports. Wainwright, originally from Raytown, Mo., is listed as 6'5 and weighing 210 pounds.
Wainwright had chosen the Bears over teams such as the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Florida Gators, the Memphis Tigers, the Missouri Tigers, the Ohio St. Buckeyes, the SMU Mustangs, the St. John's Red Storm, the Texas Longhorns and the UCLA Bruins.
Back in July, Wainwright suffered a stress fracture in his left ankle. He had surgery to correct the problem, but was unable to participate in Nike's Skills University event in Alexandria, Va.
Wainwright is listed at No. 18 in ESPN's Class of 2013 recruiting list. Wainwright is expected to have an expanded role with Montrose Christian this season after a few players have graduated from the program.
