The Florida Gators had little trouble with the Wisconsin Badgers on Wednesday night, moving to 2-0 with a 74-56 victory. Erik Murphy was all over the floor for the Gators, picking up 24 points, eight rebounds and a steal.
Florida took an early lead on Wisconsin and never let go. Mike Rosario had 15 points and four rebounds, and Kenny Boynton added another 10 points and six boards. The Gators shot 61.9 percent as a team.
Wisconsin didn't manage quite so well, shooting only 21-of-59 for 35.6 percent. Florida deployed an incredibly effective zone defense. The Gators had twice as many turnovers as the Badgers, 20 to 10, but Wisconsin couldn't make much of it. Jared Berggren led things for the team, picking up 11 points and six rebounds. Additionally, Florida was 16-for-20 on free throws, while Wisconsin managed only 7-of-14.
With the loss, the Badgers fall to 1-1. Both teams play again on Sunday, with Florida facing the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on the road, while Wisconsin hosts the Cornell Big Red.
