The Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-1) won their fifth straight game Thursday with a 64-50 victory over No. 8 Kentucky (4-2) in the SEC-Big East Challenge.
The Wildcats struggled shooting the ball, hitting just 40 percent from the field and 29 percent from 3-point range. Notre Dame shot 48 percent overall and 53 percent from three.
Four players scored in double figures for Notre Dame, led by Eric Atkins with 16 points and four assists. Jerrian Grant had 13 points and six assists and Jack Cooley had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Cameron Biedscheid had 10 points and four rebounds.
Kentucky was led by Julius Mays, who had 16 points, three rebounds and three assists. Nerlens Noel was the only other Wildcat in double figures, with 10 points. Mays, Willie Cauley-Stein and Jon Hood were the only Kentucky players who shot better than 50 percent.
Notre Dame led 36-25 at halftime.
