The No. 24 Wichita State (9-0) Shockers found little resistance on Saturday night against Northern Colorado (1-6), dispatching the Bears is relatively easy fashion, 80-54.
Wichita State raced to an early 22-9 lead thanks to strong rebounding and an aggressive offense, and led 38-19 at halftime. The Bears would pull to as close as 40-24 in the fourth quarter but never closed the gap further, as Wichita State outscored N. Colorado 22-14 in the final nine minutes of regulation to secure the easy win.
Wichita State forward Cleanthony Early led the Shockers with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting while also going 3-for-3 from the line in the game. Guard Malcolm Armstead added four assists and three rebounds while putting up 11 points, going 3-for-5 from long range.
The Shockers shot 55.6 percent as a team, going 12-of-24 from 3-point range and hitting on 8-of-14 from the free-throw line. The Bears managed just 2-of-14 from long range in the game, shooting 41.5 percent overall.
Wichita State will next go on the road to face Tennessee on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. ET.
