Two of the Top-10 teams in the country square off Saturday in one of the first huge Big Ten games of the season.
Saturday afternoons in Assembly Hall when the Indiana Hoosiers are a powerful team are something special, especially when they're facing another great team, and especially when that other team is in the Big Ten. That's exactly what we have this Saturday when the No. 5 Hoosiers host Trevor Mbakwe, Rodney Williams, the Hollins brothers and the No. 8 Minnesota Golden Gophers.
The Hoosiers, led by star sophomore Cody Zeller, have yet to be truly tested in conference play, having defeated Penn State and Iowa. Zeller and Victor Oladipo have made a devastating inside-outside combo so far, with Zeller grabbing 7.9 rebounds a game and Oladipo shooting 48 percent on threes.
Minnesota has had no such Big Ten experience. The Hoosiers are the third ranked conference foe they've faced, having already dispatched Michigan State by 13 and Illinois by 17 on the road. Tubby Smith's team is way more talented than most realize, and could certainly take this game from the Hoosiers, despite playing in one of the country's most hostile environments.
Game Date/Time: Saturday, Jan. 12, 12 p.m. ET
Location: Assembly Hall, Bloomington, Ind.
TV: Big Ten Network
