After experiencing a rough stretch earlier in the year, Florida is really starting to hit its stride as SEC play begins.
The Florida Gators made quick work of the LSU Tigers on Saturday afternoon. Led by a strong defensive performance, UF picked up a 74-52 win at Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, La.
The Gators moved out to an early lead and never looked back. They held a nine-point advantage and expanded it early in the second half. As a team, they shot nearly 45 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Tigers, 49-34.
Kenny Boynton continued his fine season with a 20-point, seven-rebound performance. Despite battling a rib injury, Erik Murphy had 12 points and seven boards. Patric Young added an efficient 14 points and seven rebounds.
Sophomore guard Anthony Hickey was one of the few bright spots for LSU. Hickey had 15 points, three rebounds, four assists and four steals. Shavon Coleman added 11 points off the bench.
Next up for the Gators will be a road trip to take on the Texas A&M Aggies on Thursday night at 7 p.m. ET. LSU will look to pick up its first conference win, against South Carolina on Wednesday evening.
