Cincinnati held Rutgers to just 15 points in the first half en route to the 68-58 win Saturday night at the RAC.
The Cincinnati Bearcats picked up their second Big East win on Saturday by pummeling the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 68-58 in Piscataway, N.J.
Though the final score might not have shown it, this was an ugly game. The Bearcats led just 1-0 at the first media timeout and were up 4-3 near the midway point of the first half.
Up 27-15 at the half, the Bearcats gave up 43 points in the second, but countered with 41 of their own to secure the win. Cashmere Wright led the way for Cincinnati with a game-high 23 points.
With no one going off for a career night, the Bearcats relied on rebounding and ball control to win in the always-electric RAC. Cincinnati won the battle of the boards, 37-34, and turned the ball over just seven times.
Rutgers was led by 15 points from Myles Mack in a balanced offensive attack from the Scarlet Knights. Kadeem Jack came off the bench to add seven rebounds and score five points in the losing effort.
