Michigan becomes the last unbeaten to fall, dropping a 56-53 contest to Ohio State.
The Michigan Wolverines suffered their first loss of the season losing, 56-53, to Big Ten rival Ohio State. The Wolverines become the fourth unbeaten team to fall this week.
Ohio State jumped all over Michigan starting the game with a 26-6 run that staggered the Wolverines. The Buckeyes led, 29-8, with 6:52 to go in the first half. Michigan gathered themselves and finished the half with a 14-5 run to trail, 34-22, at the half. The Buckeyes scored 16 points in the first half off of Michigan turnovers.
The script flipped in the second half as the Wolverines did a much better job taking care of the ball. They methodically worked their way back into the game by showing Ohio State a variety of looks defensively. Glenn Robinson III's three with 5:58 remaining finally pulled Michigan even at 46-46.
Ohio State answered with a 6-0 run and held the Wolverines scoreless for over three minutes before Trey Burke broke the string with a pair of free throws to cut the lead to 52-48 with just 1:37 to go. After a Robinson III steal and dunk made the score 52-50, Burke missed a pull-up three that went in and out with 13.9 remaining. The Buckeyes knocked down four straight free throws to make the score 56-50 to help seal the win.
Deshaun Thomas led the way for Ohio State with 20 points and four rebounds. Burke scored 15 to lead Michigan while Tim Hardaway Jr. pitched in 12.
