Louisville needs to end its two-game losing streak to Syracuse on Saturday to stay at No. 1.
The No. 1 Louisville Cardinals (16-1) host the No. 6 Syracuse Orange (16-1) at 4 p.m. ET Saturday hoping to end a two-game losing streak to the Orange and hold onto the No. 1 spot in the polls for another week.
Louisville moved to No. 1 after Duke's loss last week. The Cardinals have had an impressive start to the season, led by Russ Smith, who is averaging 18.9 points per game. The team has won 11 straight games, and its only loss this season came against Duke.
Point guard Peyton Siva, averaging 11.8 points and 5.6 assists per game, and forward Chane Behanan, who averages 11.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, help balance the Louisville offense. Big man Gorgui Dieng, one of the best shot blockers in the country, is averaging 2.2 per game and anchors the defense inside.
Syracuse is led by Brandon Triche, who averages 14.1 points per game. C.J. Fair, James Southerland and Michael Carter-Williams all also average double figures. Syracuse has won six straight since its only loss of the season, which came against Temple.
