Mark Lyons scored 24 points and the No. 7 Arizona Wildcats won their second straight road contest in Pac-12 play, cruising to a 71-54 victory over the Arizona State Sun Devils on Saturday.
Lyons and backcourt mate Nick Johnson combined for 43 points on 15-28 shooting in the win. Solomon Hill, meanwhile, had 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists for a complete game from the forward.
The game was close throughout the first half with the Wildcats taking a 29-26 lead into the locker room. With neither team going on an extended run in the second 20 minutes, it was the Wildcats' execution that set them apart from their in-state rivals. They shot 16-19 from the foul line and turned it over nine times to 17 times for the Sun Devils.
Guard Jahii Carson had 22 points for Arizona State, who drops to 14-4 (3-2) with the loss. Arizona improves to 16-1 and has now taken two out of three straight road contests in a tough Pac-12 stretch. The Wildcats' only loss this season was at Oregon on Jan. 10.
