VCU visited Duquesne Saturday for an A-10 battle and this one was never close. The Rams crushed the Dukes behind 20 points from Treveon Graham and 22 from Rob Brandenberg.
The No. 22 VCU Rams, sitting in first in the Atlantic 10, clobbered the Duquesne Dukes on Saturday, 90-63 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The Rams jumped out to a 44-18 lead at the break and remained in control the entire 40 minutes. Treveon Graham (20 points) and Rob Brandenberg (22) each posted prolific offensive numbers to lead VCU. Darius Theus helped out with eight assists and four steals.
Hot shooting from three and a decisive edge on the boards helped VCU cruise to the blowout road win. The Rams made 12 from long distance and outmuscled Duquesne 39-29 on the glass. Their defense also forced 19 Dukes turnovers, including five from Derrick Colter. Colter led Duquesne with 15 points.
With the win, VCU moves to 16-3 (4-0), while Duquesne slips to 7-11 (0-4) and remains in the A-10 basement. Next up, the Rams play two of their next three on the road, starting with a visit to Richmond to face the Spiders on Thursday.
